Nvidia GT 240

Ok so I just bought an Nvidia GT 240 made by PNY, but when I plug it into my computer I can't get any signal on my display. I've tried using DVI and HDMI on it but neither one show anything on my screen. How do I fix this problem?

P.S. This isn't a replacement of the 9600GT in your specs is it? If so it is more of a side step than an upgrade as the 9600GT is faster than it ijn most things.

Trying to think of some suggestions that might help... (Some people are much better at this than I am.)

In addition to what stormy said, the PCI-E power connector is plugged in? If this is replacing a previous card, was the previous one working correctly in the same machine? On-board graphics on your motherboard I assume is disabled? Do you have a spare machine in which you can test this card? Or do you think you might want to try a different slot?

The 240 doesn't have a separate power connector, so that's not it. Your system profile doesn't mention a 2nd monitor, but if you have one, make sure it is on, because it could be displaying there. Does the fan run on the 240 when you start the PC?

Yes the fan runs on the graphics card, and I only have 1 monitor and the monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster T220HD

Woohoo! I got it fixed! All i had to do was change a setting in my BIOS from onboard to PCI-E. And out of all the other graphics cards I've had I've never had to change any settings in my BIOS for it to work. Now is there a way to mark a thread as solved?

Ahhh, as msdos622wasfun said. Since you already had another graphics card, I assumes you had already disabled onboard graphics. Good you got it sorted. A Guy

try reseting bios with clear cmos jumper or removing battery. (read your motherboard manual)
it may force bios to pick up your pci-e card
