Nvidia install failure

I am upgrading to the latest & greatest Nvidia geforce driver package. When installing the graphics driver module the install failed. Ok, this happened the last time I installed an Nvidia driver package. That time I uninstalled the drivers then deleted everything Nvidia and the installer ran fine. This time I did the same thing after the failure (uninstall & delete) and ran the installer as a clean install but got the same failure while installing the graphics driver module. I am at a complete loss here, any ideas or suggestions? Please, I'm already in the early stage of withdrawals.

Use System Restore to a point before the problem occurred.If everything works normally then leave well alone.It is safer to only change drivers through Device Manager,unless there is a compelling reason to do otherwise.

Yeah, I went as far as 3 days before the problem, restore ran and completed. The Nvidia driver is still missing though. I was going to go ahead and restore back up to the day of the problem and them maybe trying a down rev of that driver. I was toying for the last few weeks with the idea of getting a new, more powerful card anyway. Maybe I'll just let my buddy at the shop deal with it <G>. I just hate to leave a problem un-solved.
