Hi all,

I am trying to run Skyrim and am having major problems in that it is ridiculously slow even when running minimum specs, and I was wondering if it had something to do with this "Optimus" technology by NVidia.

My DxDiag is posted below, but the graphics card has 1GB dedicated memory and my processor is an i3.

When I go into the options in the Autoplay of Skyrim I get the option to pick graphics options and which videocard I use.

It only shows the Intel HD graphics card and not my NVidia GT 520M. Could this be my problem?

Sorry if my message is garbled and illegible, it's been a long day...

Thanks all.

optimus error

hi there...........:)
I too had a problem with my optimus but solved it in a very easy way
I have 3gb dedicated nvidia GT555M
8Gb of ram......i7 turbo 2.9ghz
still one software dare told me to upgrade the hardware due to poor quality graphics:mad:
here's the solution
open nvidia control panel
In 3D settings.........go to Manage 3D settings....
you will be shown Preferred Graphics Processor - If it is auto select......change it to Nvidia 520(or whatever is being shown)
If you have an Option named PhysX config.....it will again show a preferred processor...., change it to nvidia too............
:warn:remember to RESTART your system after doing and accepting these changes.
Try to run your game/software....I hope this works
Also, keep ur graphics card drivers updated....both Intel HD and Nvidia.....

Now here's my experience....
Above changes make my graphics experience best....on cost of my battery and fan noise....
I own a Dell XPS 17
let me know if you need something more or if the above things don't work for you....
enjoy:party:

^ Yep, this is your best bet because Nvidia's Optimus technology automatically switches between the onboard graphics and the discrete video card. So setting a preference definitely helps.
