Hi guys,
Did search but did not see issue. After doing upgrade desktop icons would flicker and after some time the screen resolution would change. Then computer would stop responding and would only respond after forcing reboot. I contacted Microsoft and they had me do a clean boot which stopped the problems. I restarted non-Microsoft processes one at a time and the problem seems to be caused by NVIDIA Display Driver Service. As long as this is not running computer seems to be fine. Only question is this something that is needed to run? When on Vista Home Premium before upgrade to Windows 7 there was no problem with this running.
Thanks for any opinions,

Hi.

No, that is not necessary to run. If you like using NVIDIA control panel to adjust visual settings like to make it brighter, more vivid etc...than, yes you do need it.

It really shouldn't be causing any issues. Perhaps there is another reason why it is for you.

Are you running the latest driver from NVIDIA's site and also the latest chipset drivers from your motherboard manufacturer's site?

Install them if not.

I can look at the system for you if you'd like. Type system information into the start menu search box. Hit enter. On the screen that pops up, ctrl+s.

Rar or zip the saved file and attach to a post using the paperclip above where you type.

Thank you much for your quick response and insight. When I use NVIDIA tool to check for updated driver it tells me Asus is requiring to get driver from them. I contacted Asus support and they sent me link of supported laptops for Windows 7 and Asus G1S was not listed. No driver available from Asus website. The NVIDIA control panel seems to be there. I will make sure all other drivers are updated.
Thanks again,
