NVIDIA Unveils GeForce GTS 450

Earlier today, NVIDIA has lifted the covers on a new GPU from their “Fermi” family specifically targeting gamers: the GeForce GTS 450.

What NVIDIA did with the GTS 450 was look at the latest habits of today’s gamers and designed a GPU that would meet their needs at what will be a good price point for gamers on a budget ($129 according to their blog). According to Valve’s Steam Hardware & Software Survey for July 2010 – 57% of gamers play between 1280x1024 and 1680x1050 screen resolutions. The Steam Hardware & Software Survey for August 2010 was released as well and that trend still holds true (it’s at 56.03% for August). With that in mind, NVIDIA designed the GTS 450 to provide the best experience on 19” to 22” monitors operating at resolutions between 1280x1024 and 1680x1050. NVIDIA groups their GPUs into “classes” that gamers would understand:

Nice card but unless you get the overclocked versions or plan on overclocking it the HD 5770 is the faster card (and even then the 5770 is faster in most things than the OC'ed 450), with the stock version of the GTS 450 struggling to beat the HD 5750 in some things.

Another point to make as well if you do buy the overclocked cards, you might as well just spend that bit extra and go for a GTX460.

The 5770 is about $25 to $30 more though and for another $25 to $30 you can get a gtx460 so it really just depends on how much you wanna spend.

Not anymore. Don't forget AMD announced price cuts for the 5770 and 5750 and the prices are starting to come down, some with rebates to get there some not,

yeah there offering price cuts due to the south island gpu pretty soon the 6700 to 6800 series gpu's are going to be on the scene

Im selling my 5770 to a friend and throw some extra cash in there for a good 6700 card possible grab the 6800 these cards are supposedly available round nov through march of next year im hoping to get my hands on one

the only difrence that nvidia offered better then a 5770 is the 256bit other then that it is changing withthe revision of the 57 turned into 67 vice versa the 58-68 more stream processors and 256 bit to 512 bit gpu's

all cards will be in the price range of the first generation cards
