Here I was killing half a day trying to figure out what I was doing wrong till I found out: nothing! Its just MS being d's about the W7 drivers.

thanks to everyone for the hotfix and drivers, finally got my Nvme gigabyte 256gb disk to work on win7. couldnt have done it without you. no thanks though to bill gates , wish they wouldnt have taken those hotfixes offline.

I have Windows 7 and my newly bought Crucial P2 M.2 SSD,
sadly, the hotfixes posted in the topic didn't help:
CrystalDiskInfo and Victoria are not able to read any diagnostics data and smart, and the Crucial tool says the driver doesn't allow to read the smart data or to see any other info about the disk.
When I booted to a Win10 service live cd, the diag info was read without an issue, so it's a Win7 problem.

Does anyone know where to find a fix for this?

Not unless crucial supply some special drivers/firmware for that model.

Are you sure the hotfixes installed correctly? Is your os up to date?

I got it working.
I actually had these updates integrated in the OS years ago, so I didn't need them.
What helped to get the smart and diag data working for P2 (as well as its max speeds) on Win7 was the
Renan Decarlo's advice - installing Micron NVMe driver for Win7.
Now both P2s I have run in full power and provide all diag data.

IIRC I did try that driver before the hotfix's but it did not work. It may have worked after the hotfix's

I recently bought a PCIe NVMe expansion card and a 1TB drive to go in it.
And then I was shocked to find windows 7 support had been removed.

hi Everyone, tried hotfixes but didnt work for me. It says " This update is invalid for your system"

Should i do it offline by enabling win7 update?

any chance to use samsung nvme ssds with their drivers but without win7 nvme drivers?

Why would you need to do a clean install? You can integrate the nvme updates and/or the samsung drivers into a current system.

Im using same Os since 2013 without any problem and update. Updating samsung magician to newest version was bad idea cuz it doesnt work without dotnet 4.6. when i tried to install dotnet "it says dotnet framework doesnt support this os".

So im tryin to fins solution without clean installation and sp1

You could do a repair install using media that already includes SP1. That should keep your programs and settings.

Thanks SIW2! You've made a priceless service to those stuck at Windows 7 for various reasons. I spent a lot of time installing all updates hoping for NVME to appear. It didn't. "Your" drivers saved the day. Milion thnaks for your honest service. Yes there is so big smile on my face seeing my new M.2 disk working in my 10 y.o. computer.

P.S.: For those worying to download drivers: Don't worry, installers are signed and Windows does check signature validiy & trust -> regardles of origin you can verify it is released by MS and not tainted by attacker.
