My apologies if this topic is available as I was unable to find it in my searches.

I would like to uninstall and reinstall OS.

As I have not attempted to do so in the past, I would welcome some direction regarding the safe backup of the contents of my HDD including the re-installation of the backed up material following re-installation of the O.S.
Of particular importance is the acceptable practice of and reasons for allocating individual batches of windows software into the various partitions i.e. Boot files etc.

Looks like these guys have you covered but I would like to add a useful tip regarding your installed programs.

Sometimes remembering your installed programs can be a hassle especially remembering 2 years worth, I find its a good idea to go into Add/remove programs and make a list of programs you absolutely want and save/backup any setup files of hard to find or annoying to download programs.
