Occasional BSODs and Lock-Ups on new computer build

hi,

okay, lets enable driver verifier again and see if that throws a new BSOD,
then we may see if your drivers are showing issues or not.

If it does can you run the SF tool again and post.

Is Acronis installed a reg editor?

Cheers

Dave

Hi, no crashes today at least. I'll try using driver verifier tomorrow though. Uh, I have no idea what acronis is, is that on my computer? Google tells me that there's an Acronis that is used for back ups or something but it's not something that I've used.

edit: or actually maybe I'll try using driver verifier after/if I crash again because it's been stable after installing that audio driver...

I just had another non BSOD crash a few minutes after playing a game :(. A friend wants to rule out the graphics card so I might unplug my GPU and see if I get any crashes in the next few days running without it

Hi,

Maybe stress testing will determine if your graphics card is failing:

Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark: :ar: Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark
Monitor temperature of the system during the tests :ar: HWMonitor

Hope this helps.

cheers

yeah as I said in my earlier posts I already tried using a few stresstesting benchmarkers while running HWMonitor from way back when the crashes first started (3Dmark, Heaven Benchmark, various games at high settings, prime95, etc.) and my computer passed them all fine. Really, overheating was one of the first things I ruled out as I noted in my original post, and I don't even have much reason to suspect it because a large majority of my crashes occurred when I was not running anywhere near max temps, and when I did run at my max temps they weren't alarmingly high (I don't feel like uploading the HWMonitor logs right now but I still have some of them).

I'm going to attempt switching over to integrated graphics right now though... I downloaded the latest integrated graphic drivers for my processor and will unplug my GPU, here's hoping it fixes it I guess. So then RMAing my video card would solve things...

edit: now running on my onboard intel graphics instead of using my gpu, I left my gpu connected to my motherboard but that shouldn't affect anything I think...

I was really starting to think it was my GPU after all since I hadn't crashed in a while but I just right now had the second kind of freeze (non BSOD) while I was away from my computer (it crashed maybe 5-15 minutes after I stopped using it). Screen was frozen and unresponsive (screensaver never turned on) and I had to force shut down etc. etc.

Is my only option now to return the motherboard? I'm still completely lost on what to do.

edit: also had a really short stutter freeze the other day while playing a youtube video but I dismissed it as an anomaly... it really felt like I had a lot less crashes since I stopped using my video card though.

Hi,

Your logs are dated 24/5/2013 and thats the one that shows ATI drivers at fault, that Ive already
looked at.

Are you able to boot into :ar: Safe-mode and run the computer without any BSOD issues?

Cheers

Dave

Yeah I don't think my computer leaves any logs of the non BSOD crashes I experience; I just uploaded everything that the diagnostic tool grabbed because I wasn't sure if there was anything that could help in it. I can boot into safe mode fine but it's not really feasible to just leave my computer on in safe mode for a week to see if it crashes seeing as they sometimes don't occur for 1-2 weeks, and I also wouldn't really be able to simulate the way I use the computer when it crashes (browsing the web and playing games). Currently contemplating how to try and get my mother board and/or video card replaced.

I had a non BSOD freeze again a couple days ago. also have started experiencing CS:GO crashes since ~4 days ago after a CS:GO patch (unsure if related to my other computer problems). I contacted ASUS tech support and they suggested to update my BIOS which I have done so now, otherwise to fill out an RMA form if problems persist. Apologies if this seems like spam but I'm posting this so I can keep a log of the changes I've made since it's hard to keep track of sometimes. I'm also using my video card again (after the BIOS update) so maybe if there are still problems they will crop up sooner rather than later.
