occasional log out problem

After receiving the upgrade pack from HP
i installed it immediately
i was vary happy for the first few days because windows 7 definitely works better on my laptop
however after two weeks i discovered a problem
whenever i press shut down, restart (any options that involve logging out"
there is a 25% chance that the log off process takes more than 7 minutes or longer
and everytime i have to press the power button in order to shut down the laptop
my computer is the compaq pavillion cq 61
core 2 duo T6400 2.00GHZ
4.0GB ddr2 ram
nvidia geforce 103m

Can you check the event viewer and see if any events at logoff are throwing critical errors?

Start->Type in "Event Viewer"->Look for criticals
