For the last few months, when viewing the contents of files/folders there will occasionally be certain files or folders that are not in view, but are in fact located there. This usually happens when doing a SaveAs.

Also, Windows routinely fails to find particular files/folder when searching.

My IT person is puzzled.

Thanks for your help.

In Control Panel, Folder Options and the View tab I usually check that the "Show hidden files, folders, and drives" item is Unchecked as well as "Hide extensions for known file types". And I will click "Apply to Folders" to make the settings globally.

I make sure "Show all hidden files" is checked.

An example of this problem:
I search a Word file called John Smith. It finds it in a folder called C:Neighborhood/Smiths. I open the Word doc, John Smith. Then I do a SaveAs, and it does not show the Smiths folder in the Neighbor folder, though it does exist there.
