Hey guys, hopefully someone will know what is up with this as I've never seen this happen before.
My old laptop finally kicked the bucket, and the nvidia chip died. I had a decent hard drive inside the laptop with valuable data stored on the desktop.
So I thought no problem, buy a new laptop, and in the mean time hook the old hard drive up to my desktop computer (as I had done in the past with XP).
However, although the computer allows me access, when I go into the desktop under my user name it's like it's cloned the desktop computer's 'desktop'.

Now the strange thing is, all of the other folders outside of 'Documents and Settings' are as they should be.

How on earth can I gain access to this as I urgently need to back the files up?

Many thanks.

Oops - I've found another folder in the root called 'users' - this has my info in there for some weird reason !

That is because you are a user, and that is how it's stored.
