Odd boot problem

Not strictly 7 related but I have an HP laptop Vista machine her that will not boot f I have a USB wired mouse plugged in.

Have reset to BIOS to boot from notebook HDD / optical / USB/ from what it was originally set (USB for some reason) but the problem persists.

Aftre boot the mouse can be plugged in again with no issues any ideas anyone please?

Hum couldn't find anything that metioned legacy so might just try disabling the touchpad - would that be a way to go?

I really wouldn't think so, but you can try. If it is a newer laptop, some have in the boot priority a BBS priority. That is where you list the hard drive boot priority. set that and if USB is listed disable it. Then in the boot priority list DVD first, HDD second and disable everything else. See if that works. But, that means if you want to boot from a USB, you will have to go back and change it.

Ok Steve I'll try that as there are five options for boot including one from network

The machine is a 2007 model so I guess might just be long in the tooth but still ok for a backup and if necessary the touchpad will do the friend. :)
