Hey there, so I've recently run into a bad bit of computer luck it seems. The other day I turned on my PC and it right away went to a "Windows can't start" message, something blew up, please repair/reinstall. So I figured why not, I had had my installation for a while. A wipe is no big deal. So I go to reinstall and I get this odd BUGCODE_USB_DRVIER BSOD, the worst part is its still in installation! Like I didn't even get to start, as soon as the screen pops up and I try and move my mouse. Bam it goes. I've tried different usb devices and the same thing occurs. I feel like this means I either have a bad windows 7 image or my motherboard is trashed. Any ideas?

Here are my specs if it helps,
M2N-SLI Deluxe motherboard
Quad core phenom, I forget which
2x2GB sticks of ram
Geforce 98000GT

Hello,

Is it possible for you to disable the USB controller in the BIOS? If you have a PS/2 keyboard and mouse and a Windows Installation DVD instead of a USB key, you might be able to get away with it.

If installation proceeds as normal, we can assume that the onboard USB controller chip is fried. You could buy a PCI usb controller card for not very much.
