I reactivated my Windows 7 today and afterwards I got a really weird error. I can access the internet fine on both my wireless and lan, however when i go to access other computers on the network (\\*computername*), or attempt to RDP TO ANOTHER COMPUTER, i get a password challenge which is normal, then it just hangs.....

I have tried to isolate it by wireless or LAN both do the same thing. Disabled firewalls, etc. I am kind of at a loss here. I run a clean ship the install had basically been sitting unactivated since the timer ran out and i bought a key this afternoon since i decided to use the laptop for an HTPC.. I had no issues with it before hand in December. I installed all latest updates after this to see if it would fix it with no luck. Any help would be appriciated.

Also I can ping the machines fine

Have you tried with ipaddress? Have you turned on File and Printer sharing?

If both machines are on the same network and are pingable, have created shares then it should work.
