My desktop running Window 7 64bit will shut down claiming my battery has reached a critical level. My only problem is this computer doesn't have a battery, it's a desktop. I don't know why the OS would think I have a battery. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Actually every computer has a battery, it is the CMOS, battery. It keeps the settings and time when you are shut down. I think that this battery may be low. You might want to check it. Is your time right, bottom right of screen?

Hello nbat42, welcome to Seven Forums!

Have a look through Power Options to see what it's set at though that makes no sense if you have no battery.

I have the same problem. My computer shuts down unexpectedly and when I start it up Windows Resume Reloader says that it has saved my data to the disc and that windows shut down because it's battery has reached its critical level and must be recharged or plugged in before resuming Windows. My computer (Win 7 Prof 64 bit) is also a desk top only several months old and stays plugged in all the time.
