Solved Oddities, re-install, Corrupt Files, Static Noise, Loud CPU w/Chrome

I re-installed Win 7 Pro 32 bit from a USB device (I have the product key) after being unable to prevent further BSOD occurrences. User errors were the cause of the failed first 2 attempts of the re-install, but the third time proved to be a charm. No more blue screens, but ...

1) My CPU now sounds like a jet as it roars down the runway. This especially while playing games on FB with Chrome as my browser.

2) After the re-install there were more than 150 updates. Normal? I installed the IMPORTANT ones -- there were 102. (BTW, post re-install I did Updates first and then Drivers. Hope that was correct.)

3) There is a crackling noise emanating from the built-in speakers, even when muted. The static cannot be heard when the head phones are used. The noise is still present, but only the expected audio comes thorough the wires. Also, I don't recognize the sound driver. I am pretty sure it's not the same, but not certain. Can't confirm either way as I erased the backups. Sorry about that.

4) When I ran sfc /scan now, it took forever and the marathon yielded many, many corrupt files. Some files were reparable and others not. Some of the errant files were Chinese Dictionary files. It surprised me, too. Unfortunately I do not have that log.

I really need some help with this. I am going on 24 hours with no sleep and can't see myself soundly sleeping until this is solved. I have no idea how to solve it. Another re-install?

I should mention that the hard-drive capacity is 75G with just under 60G free and i am including a link to the Speccy snapshot.

Hello and welcome John mate the roaring CPU would be a heat problem at a rough guess if yo cannot get the temps up with Speccy try this Core Temp

A chkdsk is probably an idea to run as well

The updates mate yes fairly standard for a fresh install. That the sfc took so long and yealded what it did I would reinstall again and try this

You really should think about some more RAM too mate and I guess the hard drive could be best dealt with a test try SeaTools for Windows | Seagate

Hey thanks for getting back to me. I read about heat problems, but it was 49 degrees and ruled out. I do have my product key. I don't have a factory OEM. I have no disks at all -- for that matter. Thus the ISO to USB Stick. I've read about Ready Boost for enhancing RAM and it seems rather quick and painless. Any thoughts? What is a Surface Test. Chkdsk results were good. And I am off to heed your suggestions. Thanks again.

Readyboost John is not RAM as you know it - it just caches data for that session for want of a better way of putting it and I never found it of any use to be honest. There is no comparison with a another stick of RAM proper.

The surface test it actually tests the physical surface of the disk inside the drive the other tests see this How Do I Test My Hard Drive for Problems?

Now as for installing I prefer a disk to be honest but if you want to try again this is the one to follow

You can use a disk or USB stick with this.

I formatted the disk during first attempt at re-install -- am I screwed?

I tried the advice mentioned at http://www.sevenforums.com/installation-setup/299663-how-do-i-fix-0x80070570-error-code.html by member gregrocker in reply #6 -- didn't help. I have another download I am going to try.

Bad news ... things were great until near the end of the process, I got this message:

"Windows could not prepare the computer to boot into the next phase of installation, to install Windows, restart installation."

Good news! This note is being sent from the computer in question. I poked around the internet and discovered that I was missing bootmanager. The wasy fix was: At the command prompt during install type: bootrec /fixboot
