Office 07 usable without license key?

Hi,

I just got a distressed Win7 unit that has Office 07 Home and Student installed on it. I'm trying to figure out exactly where I stand with MS on this. Everything functions perfectly, except every time an Office app is fired up it requests the license key. But the key is not necessary to run the program, and it will allow you to proceed without the key after a few nuisance screens.

I would think that either the installation is valid or not. I don't have a key, so I'm stuck where it is for now, but I'd like to understand what's going on.

Home and Student has Onenote, which is great, but it seems to lack macro support, which is a big minus.

I am using Office 2007 Home and Student.

Excel macros work fine for me. You have to designate the relevant folder as a "trusted location" if the macro is not digitally signed--for instance, if you made the macro yourself.

I have no idea about your licensing problem.

Ok, thanks. I use Word macros more than anything, and am most interested in them. But I suppose they should be active as well. Currently they are grayed out on the ribbon.

I worked on another machine with the same licensing scenario, but that was because Office was installed improperly. I'd like to be able to use it without the nag screens if possible.

Do you have a Developer tab in Word?

I do, with macro menus.

I didn't see one last time, but I think I recall that needs to be activated. Right now I just discovered that the machine won't boot up, so I have a bigger problem. It was fine last night, and I fully updated Win7.

Yeah, as I recall the Developer tab is not there by default?

But, I'll be damned if I remember how to make it appear.
