Office 2000/Office 2010

I've been trying to find a listing of the differences between Office 2000 and Office 2010, can anyone help, either with a list or where to get one.

Wondering if its worth going for the Home and Student one.

You are looking at 10 years difference there.

Downloaded Student and Home Trial, wow what a difference, its gonna take me the length of the trial to get used to it.

Is it possible to add to a trial, ie Outlook.

Any compelling reason for Office2010?

Assuming you have Windows 7, there is no Outlook (and don't forget Outlook Express is a Service Pack update for XP).

At my house I installed OfficePro 2000 (32-bit) into Windows 7-64bit with no problems and used the export features of Outlook to feed Welcome to Windows Live Hotmail. Now I'm ready to un-install Outlook.

I see no compelling reason to give more money to Microsoft for Office2010.
-- The free OpenOffice 3.0 opens any MS document.
-- Perl scripts are superior to any automation feature available with MS Office Suite (or Pro version).
-- As a consultant I've been called in to strip out Office 2010 on a LAN and re-install Office 2007.

But that's just me and IMHO about the Office2010. I agreed with my client that MS needs to stabilize their version of xml. Installing Office2007 made the client's office more productive without having to take the time for retraining.

Balma, would it pay me to forgo 2010 and go for 2007,and is there any great difference in applications for the Home user, (ie no business use), also is it still possible to still get a trial for 2007.

There are many minor changes in 2010 over 2007, any one of which could be the "killer App" for you, everyone uses Office differently.

One major change is the ease that the ribbon interface can be customised, which means that you can have the office YOU need/want.

It is unlikely that you can get a trial of office 2007 from Microsoft although it is still available on technet and the like. you may find copies available on the disks supplied with new OEM systems

you may well see a lot of heavy discount copies of 2007 appearing if and when 2007 takes off - as the visuals and working methods are similar this is likely to be more common than mas the case with 2003 - 2007 with the introduction of the ribbon.

There is also a free ad supported version of office 2010 with basic functions that will be shipped with OEM systems

One of the new functions I saw in PowerPoint 2010 is that you can save a Photo Album as a video. I think that is neat.
