Morning,

I have been using Office 2003 (mainly Word & Excel) for many years with no problems.

Just before Christmas it started playing up.

When I save an Excel or Word file to the Desktop it takes at least 2 minutes for the 'Save As' function to find the Desktop.
It finds all the other locations on the far left of the 'Save As' screen with no problem - it's purely when trying to save to the Desktop.

I've decluttered the desktop and this hasn't helped.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2003 and this hasn't helped.

I'm hoping there is a solution somewhere... please help me!!

I just tried it with my Word 2003 and no problems "Saving As" to desktop.

Keep in mind Office 2003, like Windows XP, is no longer supported by Microsoft. Thus updates may not be available, but check for Office 2003 updates anyway. There were several Service Pack updates and one of those may help.

Oh well.... I know Microsoft stopped the support, sad times.
Looks like my work will take a little longer to save from now onwards nevermind

Hi Zoeys.
Did you have any problems installing Office 2003 onto your Win 7 Pro x64? If you can without problems I may be able to install it onto the wife's new Win 8.1 laptop........

No problems installing onto my win 7 Pro - It worked fine for the past 2-3 years.

Unfortunately my save issue has just started to appear.

Thank you, it seems that I may have a plan B with Office 2003 if my Office 2010 Pro + will not install. It was a download from software4students some while ago and I think it cost me under £40! Pity they do not still do similar offers!!
Just checked, it was £39.84.

I hope you find a solution for the save problem, not come across this one so cannot help.
