Hey all,
I have RC1 installed along with Office 2003. Upon installing Office I was asked to register, which I did. Since the initail install each time I open Outlook I am asked to accept the EULA. I am also asked to accept the EULA when I compose a new email.

My copy of Office is legit and came with my Dell laptop.

This is not a major ordeal just looking to see if anyone else has run into this. I am guessing this is a registry issue?

Welcome to SF to you both,

Not sure, but chances are that the MS 2003 that came with your laptops could be demos only, which means you can use them for six months then need to purchase or remove the application from your computer. Now if you paid Dell extra (or included in the price of the laptop) then you might need to contact Dell to see if you need to install a patch or an update that will remove this problem.

Sometimes when you upgrade from one OS to another the new OS doesn't see the application as purchased. The reason being is when the manufacture includes a program with the purchase of a computer it has all the information installed for the extras you paid for built into the OS, or the Application; this way it cannot be moved to another platform or even to friends without the proper computer ID. Hope this helps.

Actually, mine's not a laptop, but a desktop. And I have the Microsoft Office 2003 CD -- the whole enchilada. And I reinstalled it from the CD. So I doubt if that's the problem in my case.

BTW, I installed from the same CD on my Vista laptop and it worked fine. No problems. In fact, when I upgraded the laptop to Windows 7, no problems there either.

Did you install it on the laptop before you installed it on the PC, if so and unless you purchased an extended license you are usually allowed only one install off the purchased installation key.

Actually, I'm allowed to have it on a desktop and a laptop -- as long as I don't use them at the same time. And I'm also supposed to be able to reinstall it on the same computer without that being "counted" as a new install. The idea is to prevent me sharing it with friends. Which I'm not doing. Does anyone know the number to call at Microsoft to sort this out?

Unfortunately, the first of those numbers is specifically concerned with other MS products and doesn't include Microsoft Office. The second number is discontinued. Aaargh. They sure don't make it easy!

I found the answer. It's in Article ID: 884202. Google "You must accept the Office End User Agreement every time" and you'll find it.

Here's the short answer. This behavior occurs if your user account does not have permissions to modify the Microsoft Windows Registry. To resolve it:
1. Right click on Winword.exe
2. Click on "Run as administrator" then click "Continue."
3. Accept the EULA.
4. Exit winword.
5. Repeat these steps for the other Office programs that still prompt you with the EULA.

Voila! Problem solved. Phew!

Don't know if you're still active on this website Sheryl... if you are, I just wanted to let you know that I was having the same problem with the EULA after installing Office 2003 but, thanks to you (and Windows 7 Forums), I was able to resolve the problem.
