Dear All,

I have an old and dying desktop pc with Microsoft Office 2010 Home & Business on it. It was my father-in-law's machine and he sadly passed 2 years ago.

I would like to scrap this pc and use the office version on one of my pcs. All of his data has been removed from the machine (using File Shredder) and all we have now is a bare-bones OS and the Office installation. When we cleared his house, the original office disks (and the OS disk) were nowhere to be seen, although I have the license keys for both the OS (Windows Vista) and Office 2010.

Before February this year, you could download the .iso files from Microsoft's official partner, Digital River, byt Microsoft went their own way and you can no longer get the .iso images from Digital River.

My question is, does anyone know where I can get an .iso image of Office 2010 Home & Buisness from?

Thanks in anticipation,

Zaph

Thanks Strollin

I entered the 25-character product key and the 'Capcha' and the 'Submit' button and the key is then verified.

Next, I get to a page with my product shown (and the option to add physical media for £11.41) and I have to sign in with a Microsoft account (my Hotmail will do nicely).

What happens next is that I get to a page that offers me a download link but says that the file is only 942Mb!?

This is a Click-to-Run install and not an .iso file.

Is there any way to get an .iso image? Microsoft themselves say that the £11.41 physical backup media option is not available (despite it showing on the website).

Is this correct?

Can anyone provide a link to an .iso image of Office 2010 Home and Business?

Zaph

Bummer. I've never actually downloaded from that site so didn't realize that it wasn't an ISO download. I don't know where else you can download an ISO.

Hi Zaph,

I just used that site to download Office 2010 University, the size was 942MB like yours.

It is an .EXE file, is there a reason you want an .ISO? I guess you want to make a disc?

By the way, I don't get an option for .ISO at all, there is a link in the email they sent right after downloading to order a DVD but it is a dead end, just goes back to my account to download again.

If you just want to store it on a disc, it doesn't need to be an ISO.

But what you're already downloading is the real installer! You don't need anything else to install it, just unpack that and run.

If you really want to burn it to CD (wasteful, but still has some uses) you can do it yourself afterwards. Downloading a separate .iso file is not necesary at all.

An Office ISO isn't bootable like an OS install disk so it's fine to simply create your own ISO with that installer on it. You can mount the ISO and run the install from it.

Ah, OK.

Thanks for the info.

I also have the option to d/load Office 2016 through Micro$oft's HUP Program - I have the necessary code from work and £9.95 seems a real bargain (even better than the 'Ultimate Steal' of a few years back).

I haven't done this yet as I'm wondering if 2016 is like 2013 (which is 'clunky' to say the least)! Anyone offer any thoughts on Office 2016?

Cheers,

Zaph

I have not tried Office 2016, but I have been using office 2013 Pro for a couple of years & I don't find it clunky, in fact it has worked perfectly for me.

Hi Zaph,

I just used that site to download Office 2010 University, the size was 942MB like yours.

By the way, I don't get an option for .ISO at all, there is a link in the email they sent right after downloading to order a DVD but it is a dead end, just goes back to my account to download again.

If you just want to store it on a disc, it doesn't need to be an ISO.

I have University 2010 on a failing hard drive at the moment and have just downloaded Office Pro 2010 64bit to load onto new SSD drive in my new computer. The download is only 754MB, no choice of a paid upgrade or of University 2010! Downloaded from the site mentioned by strollin in #2

Am I being disadvantaged? I have given the 25 character key (accepted) but no choices.
