Well, I am running Windows 7 Pro 32bit and I installed Office Professional 2010 (the beta). I needed to do a school project (a newsletter made with word). I learned how to do it on 2007. So i installed Office Home and Student 2007, and it worked. I did my newsletter, and uninstalled it. But after i uninstalled 2007, Office 2010 refused to work. When i tried to open it, i got an error. I went to the Add/Remove programs to uninstall it. It did it, but after the uninstaller finished, it said "The Uninstall Did Not Complete Successfully". It also did that when i tried to Add/Remove features of Office 2010. When i try to forcefully remove it, such as deleting the Microsoft Office folder from C:\Program Files, I get an error saying that the files i am trying to delete are in use by a program, and to close it and try again. I also tried booting in safe mode to delete it, and it did the same thing. I am at a loss of what to do, and really need some help!

Thanks in advance. :)

Hi, Welcome to SF,

You could try removing the Office using Revo uninstaller free edition. It's pretty good in such situations .

Hope this helps

If you did not install the initial program too long ago, you could use system restore.
In lieu, of that possiblity and the good Captains advice does not work, you could try C Cleaner, which is also good, when trying to remove remnants of prior programs.
CCleaner - Home

The reason that this problem occurs is because if remnants of certain programs remain, other programs cannot be installed. This is particularly common with anti virus programs.

I had a similar issue, although in my case, programs such as revo installer didn't detect MS Office 2010. I ended up having to do a clean reinstall of Windows 7 to fix the problem.
