Can I install Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Plus on a Windows 7 Starter machine? I'm installing it on my current tower but wanna also put it on my netbook. Or would I need to get the Microsoft Office 2010 Starter version, that has ads..

If this belongs in Software, then please move it.

There shouldn't be any reason you wouldn't be able to install Office 2010 Professional Plus on a Windows 7 Starter Machine. Just like there would be no reason you wouldn't be able to install Office 2010 Starter on a Windows 7 Ultimate machine.

Office 2010 starter is only installed on new OEM machines. It is only intended to give you basic office functionality. You wouldn't be able to install it yourself. And MS wants you to upgrade Office Starter to a higher version anyways, so as long as the netbook meets the minimum requirements, you should install Office Professional Plus.

I've tried multiple installs and each time I've gotten a different error. The most common one was saying that I need to be running Windows 7, Vista, XP, etc... yet I AM running Windows 7 - Windows 7 Starter. Another error I got once was the cmd screen flashing for a second, saying that I the install was too big to fit into my memory..? I even booted in safe mode so my ram was at like ~40% and it still said not enough memory.

I recently purchased a Dell NetBook and successfully loaded Office 2010 Professional on it. I haven't used it extensively as it is a new purchase, but have used rather large Word, Excel, Access, Office & PowerPoint files.
A 20mB Access D/B worked a bit slower than on a bigger machine, but it was quite usable.
The main difference that I noted was that the screen resolution was much lower than on my other computers, so I could fit less info on a screen.

I gave up after around 5 or 6 different failed install attempts with varying methods/etc. and went with Open Office. I just need word, powerpoint and maybe excel on my netbook; Open Office has suitable substitutions.

Mmm, I looked at Open Office, but found that it didn't support the VBA code that is used extensively in the MS Access applications that I use (and develop).
I will pass the Probook back to the supplier and see if they have any answers as even simple sample D/B's run very poorly on this ProBook. It appears that there is some process that is eating up the CPU and it isn't MS Access, so it seems that running some Access functions is triggering something else that is hogging the works.
Thanks for your response.
