Yesterday, i decided to revert from Win 10 to Win 7.
All the updates went in, OS was registered etc. and after installing Outlook 2013 and the rest of the suite of 2016, that's when the problems started.
No matter how many times i entered username and password, they would not stick.
Did software "repair", even multiple reboots didn't help.
Onenote, Word, Excel have become "staples" and i just can't figure out what gives. :(

Which version of Office do you want to use? Uninstall all MS Office programs, reboot, then install only the one you want to use; don't install both 2013 and 2016.

Actually, i had and still have Outlook 2013.
Acquired Word, Onenote and Excel 2016 separately (without Outlook).

If you are using the locally-installed versions of Office, then you don't need a username and password. Perhaps something other than Office is asking you for the username and password.

I wish!
When opening Word 2016 (or Excel etc.), it prompts for Outlook account email and password.
But i've encountered issues with these two versions in the past on Win 10 so many things just get worse in Win 7.

Try creating a shortcut to the actual program, and then running the new shortcut. Here's how the shortcut would look if you were running Excel 2016 in 64-bit Windows:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office16\EXCEL.EXE"

For previous versions of Excel, it will be "Office14" or something else.

Also, for Word, the name of the program is "WINWORD.EXE".

Why do you need to use some programs from Office 2016 & others from Office 2013, which I think is what is causing your problems. Outlook will always default to the later version, so it's possible your Office 2016 programs are looking for Outlook 2016 & not Outlook 2013, which is causing this conflict.

Office 2013 is actually version 15.

Couldn't afford to buy entire 2016 suite i guess.

Anyway, Outlook 2013 is activated and doing fine.
Signed into Onedrive and files are all syncing.
It's just Word, Excel, Onenote and PowerPoint 2016 that are stubborn and won't register/activate with regular Outlook email address and password.

FYI: Just did Home and Business 2016 install on Friday. Word and Excel seemed to work fine, then they only worked every couple times I started them, then not at all. Repairing accomplished nothing (either local or online). A deinstall and reinstall and it's fine.

Order of installation might matter too. Did you put on 2013 first or 2016?

Did 2013 first this time.
Think i did 2016 first at the time of this thread.
It's a long process and right now, Win 10 setup is working just fine.
So, it might be a while before i decide to do this again.
That, and the fact that activating Windows itself can be a long job too (if you know what i mean).

I'm back!
Just couldn't let this happen without trying again...
Doing all updates again.
Wondering if the fact that Windows 7 SP1 isn't installed yet might have something to do with it?
Where do i get that update?

Anyway, will try installing 2016 first this time (on fresh install).

Update: after latest updates (except for SP1) - with just 2016 installed, username and password don't do the trick.
Ugh!

Outlook 2013 not installed yet.

You will need the SP1 update, there is no point in installing Office until you get Windows SP1 installed & Windows running properly first.

You should read this MS website, which says you can't run Office 2013 & Office 2016 on the one computer, so you will have to choose which version you want to use. It seems that Office 2013 is the only one that has Outlook, so that may be the obvious one.

Install and use different versions of Office on the same PC - Microsoft Office

Once you get Windows running properly, you can install Office 2013. Then you should make sure Office 2013 is brought up to date as well. To get Office 2013 to update, open any Office program, click on File, then click on Account & that will show a box that says Office Updates, click on that & select Update Now. If it's not up to date it will download & install Updates & you can keep on working as updating carries on in the background. You should also use Automatic Updates for Office.

Sorry for the bad news but I found that MS website, while checking on using more than one version of Office.

I use Office 2013 Pro, which has Access, Outlook, One Note, Power Point & all the usual Office programs like Word, Excel etc.. I am not sure what the Standard version contains, although I know it does not contain Access, which is what I needed do I had to buy the Pro version.

Update!

Just did umpteenth fresh install of Win 7 OS -
This time, installed SP1 and Internet Explorer 11 (essential part as well);
then installed Office 2106 (Word, Excel, Onenote) and then Outlook 2013.
All were safely registered with regular Outlook username and p.w. and all are operative!

:)

It was a long journey, and i never would have guessed it to be that hard!
Have had a few more issues going back to Win 7 (things like search index in Outlook 2013 not going in) - but things look promising.
Had a hunch IE 11 had something to do with this. ;)
