I am the administrator and run as such.

I kept getting files locked so I could not acess them,,so I would click on run as administrator,on the folder.

I thought that was allowing me access and did not realize that it gave administrative privileges to some programs.

Have I done a bad thing?

I dont believe its a bad thing since to run as administrator is only temporary per log in session so the next time you boot you would lose those privileges, Just be safe and sure of what you click so you don't mess with any settings you don't know about and you should be just fine
Just as a precaution though due to exploits found in early versions of windows where accounts run in administrative mode left you open to vulnerable attacks via remote connection, however if you play safe and think logical you will have no reason to worry

Not fast enough!
I feel your pain - now I only log in and run as administrator.

Make unlocking the door from the inside too hard on the occupant and the occupant will stop locking the door.

'Nuf said - flame suit on.

I'm in the process of finding out how this OS works and where everything is.Oh what fun!

I'm starting to get a handle on it through trial and error.
