Solved Okay for PC to be ON when Monitor is absent ???

I was unsure where this question should be so here it is.

Sort of a beginner question, I know, but I have never really had reason to know before.

Is there any harm in leaving a desktop machine ON when the monitor is disconnected for extended periods, like maybe three or four hours ?

Reason I ask is, one of the kitchen computers has a huge monitor with decent speakers.

The wife cannot really see the TV very well when she is cooking.

I have acquired everything I need to bring the TV signal into the kitchen to that huge monitor; including a one-IN/two-OUT HDMI splitter; and, a bidirectional HDMI switch, which will switch the monitor to TV or computer.

When she wants to see/hear the TV, click the switch; see/hear the computer, click the switch again.

It would be awful nice if we could simply leave the computer ON instead of having to close out of dozens of programs.

Yes, absolutely, there is no problem at all in leaving a computer working with no monitor (other than you can't see it ).

In fact, it's a quite common practice. Most, if not the vast majority, of servers have no monitor at all, ever, many computers are remotely controlled and their displays rarely are in use, and so on.

Thanks; that was my take on the situation, but I wanted to put it before you guys just in case.

It is going to surprise the wife when she realizes the TV is playing through the monitor; I hope it doesn't affect her cooking.....
