Hi, I have an old printer Epson 870 stylus photo. When I migrated from XP to win 7 64 bit because this is a legacy printer, epson has not (and will not) upgrade the driver.

Does anyone know a workaround for this. I don't have Windows Professional with XP mode, just the home premium edition.

I've checked windows 7 compatability and also the epson site to no avail.

Before I toss this thing, I thought I would check. It was a pretty popular photo printer in it's day, so maybe someone has found a workaround - Thanks - Carl

If it has a Vista driver try that, thats what I'm using for my old Brother laser printer.

I actually saw that, but when you click on the link to get the driver, it actually takes you to a different model printer... the cx6600. Perhaps that driver will work with the 870, not sure. I actually called epson earlier this week and they said there were none available for windows 7. But I'm not opposed to giving it a try if you think I won't mess anything up.

Well, at present, the printer isn't working so trying the driver won't hurt.

If it works, all well and good. If it doesn't, you're no worse off than you are now.

However, before you do that, go to Start>Devices & Printers>Add a printer and see if Windows 7 installs a driver for it.
