Old Hardware Drivers

Realistically what are the chances of anyone coming up with Win 7 64 drivers for older hardware such as scanners, game devices, etc.? I have an old Microtek scanner that I use maybe once a month that is perfectly functional. Microtek says good luck and please buy one of our newer models. Same with my Thrustmaster driving wheel. Haven't tried the Seiko serial port label printer yet.

Fortunately I do have a notebook running XP that I can use for the printing and scanning although I did upgrade for better gaming so I am out of luck with the driving wheel.

Question is are there any enterprising folks out there building drivers or am I tossing the old stuff and buying new?
