Old program not recognizing drivers

Hello,

I have found an odd problem that I have never encountered before but hopefully someone else has and even better would have a solution for me!!

There is a driver install program for a USB device that I am using that is made for Windows 2000/XP. The device was installed by windows fine, but I need to install the driver program for the whole shin dig to work like i need it. Step by step instructions tell me to wait for windows to install the device right and then run the program.

I had to run the program in compatibility mode to run in the first place, but now the program is coming up for an error telling me that I need to make sure that windows installed the device right and then run the program again. I have uninstalled the device, and reconnected it to install into windows again, but still come up with the same run-around. (no btw the company's website for the device does not have an updated version for windows 7)

So my question is this...is there a way to make the program see that windows installed the device right? Am I just stuck where I am with the device? Any help would be greatly appreciated please! Thank you in advance!!

There is not a Vista driver at all, even the woman that i talked to in tech support said that there wasnt a Vista or 7 driver program at all.

nephsbirth, I have had a look at the driver for you , it appears ok and recognised a usb device i had ,so im afraid i do not know the reason why it fails on your pc , have you thought of running a virtual xp enviroment on your pc http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/8247-windows-xp-mode-install-setup.html

No I did not even think that was on there but I will give it a shot!! Btw the driver program runs fine, it just doesn't see that the device it digitally signed to the computer and is working properly.

Regardless I will try that xp mode and see if it flys or not!
