Old Versions of your Favorite Software

From time to time I find myself wishing I could go back to an older version of the program that is not available for download anymore due to the fact that upgrading was a big mistake.

In search of older versions of foobar I found this great website which hosts tons of older versions of programs: web browsers, media players, video utilities... as far as I can see, they have it all

Sometimes old software can be useful an example being Nero Move it ( A audio/video transfer software for portable media players/ Ipods ) which will only work properly with Itunes 8.2 and below because Nero updates cannot/will not keep pace with those of Itunes ( now 10.1 )

In each software tool listing there's a link to old versions hosted on videohelp server. Many abandoned tools are still available for download there. Often you can look through the comments section and find the latest version introduced a severe bug, and back off a version or 2 until it's fixed etc..

A great alternative for you Realtek audio users who don't want to wait on Realtek's less than dial up servers.

And a very good site when looking for user manuals for just about anything,

FileHippo has been around forever when comparing that site to a number of others!

Ofen the freeware/shareware sites like download.com or majorgeeks will still be seeing an older version of something or at least a link to software company that still carries previous releases.

As for device drivers for video, sound, and other things the manufacturers will often keep an archive page for the older versions available as well even if you have to contact their support to get them as well as other 3rd party sites that stock pile them.

I was looking for WS_FTP -- great little ftp program which is still useful. A lot of the newer stuff is FAR TOO BLOATED.
This is nice and simple -- does "exactly what it says on the tin" -- without zillions of complicated unnecessary "features".

I'd wiped an old applications disk I had so I'd lost it.

Works fine on W7.

You'll find quite a bit will still work on 7 especially on the 32bit flavor. Just be careful when shopping around for old versions of things on different sites since you can easily run into some malwares hidden in zip files!

When first running scans on all drives with the new av program some were found tucked away alright in supposed utility file never opened. It wasn't the site's fault either but who intentionally included a bug.
