Hi all,

I have an old HP PSC 500 (color inkjet/scanner/copier). I realize the HP will not support the old printer in windows 7 but I am wondering if I can load the old XP drivers on the XP virtual machine to get the scanner working?

When I try to start the scanner I get two pop-up windows:

The specified module could not be found

load lib loadlibrary hposcl10.dll failed rval=126

Any help would be greatly appeciated

Hi there
My take on this is for any DECENT scanning VUESCAN is expensive (you'll need the PRO version since you will probably want the ICC / Colour profiles etc if you are scanning pictures).

Running an XP VM is FREE and you've got the ORIGINAL scanner software etc.

I wouldn't even waste my time with XP Mode. Just run something like vmware player or virtual box.

One problem with XP mode is that it is tightly integrated with the OS. Using VMWARE or VBOX the virtual machine is just DATA to the Host OS. When its not running ZERO resources consumed etc. Further you can store your VM on say an external USB drive so you can connect it easily to other machines or just store when not in use.

Cheers
