On Windows 7 64-bit, Windows Live Mail 2011 won't work online. I accidentally clicked the work offline item in the ribbon. Now the Work Online option does not respond, is not clickable. And when I try to check email and the dialog comes up that asks if I want to work online, I click yes and it comes up again with same question and I click yes, and at the bottom right of screen it says working online but up top it still has unresponsive option to Work Online and it stays offline and cannot get to servers to get mail.
