Onboard Sound

I have seen a couple threads about having RealTec onboard sound and when Win 7 is installed there is a problem. Is this a common thing? If I get a new sound card, would it automatically disable my onboard sound?

You can have sound problems with Realtek or any other onboard sound. I am having some trouble with Sigmatel onboard sound.

If you go to a separate sound card, you should disable onboard sound in your BIOS.
