Onboard Soundcard Setup

Hi

I have a ASUS Rampage Extreme 2 Gene. I used to have a soundcard that i plugged into the motherboard, but recently, the bass has been going weird so i've decided to use the on-board one.

The sound is much better, the base and volume are both the same volume (Which i wanted) So if i were to play WMP, it's alot more bassier.

Now, I use my computer mainly for DJing. I run Serato (A DJ Program). Unfortunately i don't have 2 speakers that i plug into the back of the mixer like your supposed to do(If you were a DJ, you'd understand me) so i plug the output sound from the decks into my soundcrad but when i do this, the sound is all distorted, less bassier and generally rubbish quality.

My question is, How do i make the sound quality as good as it should be when i'm DJing? I've plugged the outputs into a Y splitter then into the 'Line IN' but this is rubbish sound.

What settings do i have to change in the options? (if any?)

The Line In is a stereo input. I'm a musician and also have a Sonar based recording studio but I'm not familiar with the mixer you have. Are you using "line outs" from the mixer to the PC's line in? DO NOT use the speaker outputs as that will overload the sound card and can even damage the input. You need a 1/8" stereo plug Y cable with two separate input connections so you can connect each side (Left/Right) from the line outs of your mixer (assuming it has stereo line outs).

A "Y" splitter changes the impedance by half decreasing the impedance increases the sound level, distortion, etc. Thats a no, no, unless you get a splitter with circuitry to maintain the impedance.
