Once i close an application, it shud not remain in the Vm (4some apps)

Hi folks,

is there a way to force win7 to unload/close/kill (last resort)
applications from the virtual memory even if the gui & any icon
disappeared from the desk-task bar, when i closed them ?

a reg fix maybe ?

yes, i've noticed that some apps are probably badly coded & can't always leave the memory properly,
ex: haozip & badly coded apps in .net don't always leave the memory properly after having been closed,
so i have to continuously open the task manager when i don't forget it & close 6 haozip instances or other
apps .. . that's why i'd like windows to force them to leave once i closed them & they're not appearing
anymore on the screen

Ahh I see what your saying , So do the programs which don't close properly present any problems other than still showing as processes in task manager ?

It is possible the programs are badly coded but windows is doing the Ram management and if it needs the Ram back it will take it

Something that might be able to help you figure out why those apps aren't closing is a free utility called Process Explorer.

Process Explorer

If you install it on your machine, the next time those apps refuse to close, run Process Explorer and then look for the handles or DLLs that are running. The apps could be attached to some form of malware that keep the apps running. If you don't want to install Proc Exp on your machine you can simply use the "live" run now option in the right column.

woohoo, marsmimar resolved the issue ! ))

I effectively had virut & this creep is very hard to remove, some devs were pretending that unless i reinstall
windows on a clean hd & lose all my config, there's no solution because it injects buggy informations in executables
& they're never the same .... .

only one antivir among millions got rid of all instances (a2free), not by curing them (impossible),
but by deleting all of them, i then restarted with a recovering cd under a command prompt
& copied all my missing c: & windows+subfolders executables .. .

It happened 2 months ago

& today, i effectively realized that haozip is leaving the virtual memory properly ))
