One networked computer invisible to my network stereo amp

Folks,

I have several computers on a homegroup network. I also have a Denon amp networked into the same network.

Three of the computers (and their windows media files) are available to the Denon amp through its menu functions. I can access them and play their playlists. (It's a Denon 3312Ci; all network functions for it seem good.)

A fourth computer is invisible to the Denon. (I've been to the a/v websites. They all say to go to a windows network website. LOL!) The fourth computer happens to have 90% of my music on it. It is my "main" computer.

Something is obviously configured differently with that one. How do I even begin to find out what it is?

(ALL other network functionality seems to be good. I've got the Denon amp on a fixed IP address within my network.)

Thank you.

Ken

In the advanced sharing settings at the Network and Sharing Center, make sure that Network Discovery and File and Printer Sharing etc. are turned on.

If there is a third party anti virus software installed then you may need to configure it for access.

Is there more than one router involved in this network?

No. Everything runs into a switch. The switch has a line to a router for a cable modem.

Have you tried to ping the network IP of the Denon 3312Ci from the Windows 7 machine?

Excellent suggestion. I just did exactly that: good ping, 0% loss, average time 1ms.

Ok good, is there any type of third party anti virus software install on this machine?

Can the other machines see this machine on the Network and through Homegroup?

All machines have identical 3rd party software, Kaspersky Internet Security, 2014.

This machine is visible to all machines in the Network and through Homegroup. I've sent many files back and forth.

Just double-checked. Using machine 3, I clicked on homegroup, machine 4, music, and played the music from machine 4 through machine 3.

Machine 4 is still invisible to the Denon amp. (Denon amp sees the other 3 machines, plays their music; accesses the Denon server; streams Pandora, etc.)

Definitely (to me) some sort of configuration issue with machine 4.

Despite the fact that the other machines are able to communicate and transfer files between each other Kaspersky is by far the biggest suspect here.

You would need to either configure, disable or completely remove Kaspersky from the 4th machine for testing.

Not sure why the scale isn't working. Works from my end.

Kaspersky may have created a rule to prevent access from the Denon 3312Ci which is a typical problem with many A/V software's.

Well, if Kaspersky did that, then I'd think that ALL the machines would behave similarly. I haven't changed the settings for KIS on any machines. They LOOK like all the settings are the same, but I'm sure there are a LOT of settings I haven't gotten to yet.

Yes it would seem that way I agree, though experience has taught me other wise.

I can't think of any other reason for this problem to occur and these third party A/V's do strange things like this all the time.
