One particular website formatted incorrectly

I and many others are having problems viewing a certain website correctly. I suppose it's ok to give you the name...alternet.org. When opening the website most of the time the page appears as if extra empty space has been added to the center or the page is stretched so the right side of the page is way over to the right and requires scrolling to get to it. Only once in a while will it open correctly and then after going to another page and returning to the home page, it again is shown incorrectly. In addition, after reading an article and going to the comment page, the format is wrong and some features do not work as intended. Several readers have sent complaints to the website itself and to the comment provider. If anyone can help I will pass it along to all the other readers of that website. I have four scrolling photos which show the correct and incorrect pages of both the website home page and the comment section but are too large to attach here so I have created links to them.

So, how do we get them to fix it? I've sent a full explanation to AlterNet and Disqus and no response from either.

How do I change the thread title? Maybe if I put the website name it would be noticed.

It it is from their end maybe you cant fix it; but try this
Some Web sites may not be displayed correctly or work correctly in Internet Explorer 8 or in Internet Explorer 9 Beta

OK- I just went there with PaleMoon and it worked fine.
I think richc46 is on the right track.

If it is a coding issue on their end, you could always view the source from within your browser; you can even paste it at WC3 to have it analyzed if you really want to know about it.

Compatibility View improves the AlterNet home page, but the formatting isn't 100% correct. However, it has no effect on the Disqus comments page. Thanks for your help.

I'm not familiar with PaleMoon. Did it also fix the comment section? I'll have the source code analyzed as you suggested and pass the results along to AlterNet and Disqus. I'm beginning to wonder if their IT departments are asleep at the keyboard.

If they do not have it set up correctly there is very little that you can do. YOu can email them and wait, and wait, and wait. As I said I had the problem, too when going to that site and I have no other problems.

PaleMoon is a Windows-specific, optimized version of the Firefox browser.

Linux has had theirs forever- now it's Windows' turn- it's really fast, too.

If you're a Firefox user on a Windows system, then PaleMoon is the answer- just my opinion; I really like it.

I had such a problem setting up IE8 the way I wanted it, I don't know if I want to go through that again with another browser. I got rid of the tabs and never activated some of the other options. Aren't tabs kind of redundant, since the taskbar shows what's open and the favorites list is always at hand? I don't even like Windows 7 and it took me forever to find ways of disabling the unwanted parts, like Libraries and Public User. I had to buy a new printer and install a different DVD drive that would work with W7. I still have problems updating the Nvidia graphics card and it's caused a couple of BSODs. I'm open to any advice and/or suggestions. I appreciate the help from people on SevenForums as some other forums, including Microsoft's, are rude to those of us who are not geeks.

Sniffer shows compatibilities to all browser versions. Check Java? Using Ie x64?

Java is updated. None of your browser shots show Windows 7 32 bit w/IE8. I put links to pics in my first post which show how the pages look on my screen when formatted incorrectly and when formatted correctly. Many people have complained about it to AlterNet and Disqus, so I'm not alone with this problem. I'm sending them the results of a source code analysis to prod them into fixing it.
