One svchost.exe is using 148mb of memory. Do I need all this?

Can anyone tell me if I need all these highlighted services running all the time? Have Acer Aspire, Win 7 Home Premium, 64 bit, 8 GB ram. 1 T HD. Using Firefox 21. I have cable internet and just one computer. No networking. It doesn't seem to be affecting performance, just seems like way too much. And I'm a curious person. :geek:
Please let me know what info I've forgotten!
Thanks so much

148 MB might seem like a lot but you must put this in perspective. In reality this is less than 2% of your 8 GB. And with 28% memory usage it certainly isn't causing a problem. With 8 GB RAM 148 MB usage by one instance of svchost.exe does not seem unreasonable.

I would be very wary about disabling any system services. The benefits are very questionable at best. The risks of breaking important functionality are much higher. Incidentally setting a service startup to "Manual" is NOT a safe alternative to disabling it. That mistake once cost me a great deal of troubleshooting time.

As for which services are needed for your situation: No one on this forum (or Black Viper) can tell you that for certain. The problem is that there is no complete description of what each service does available anywhere. Many services do more than is stated in Service manager.
