I am having a problem on my network...

When I set up the HomeGroup on my laptop, my desktop recognizes the laptop, but my laptop does not recognize the desktop -- even with both computers set to share all (Documents, Pictures, Printers, etc.).

The main thing I am trying to accomplish is to print from my laptop, through the desktop. The printer I am running is an HP Photosmart C4200 series. The desktop is a Gateway and the laptop is an HP. I am also running McAfee Internet Security Suite on both computers. I have already gone into both computers and marked them as "trusted" through McAfee and they show up through McAfee as being on the network.

HELP!!

Thanks!

Hello mfullererie & welcome to Seven Forums :)

Check the advanced sharing options in Network & Sharing Center, make sure the settings match.

Make sure the time is exactly the same on both machines. If there's even 1/2 second time difference between the two, it won't connect.

Also make sure that your Workgroup name is the same on both machines and passwords are setup on both accounts.

In order to share my printer, I had to install the drivers for my Photosmart C4140 on my laptop (Vista Business), then make it my default printer. I clicked on 'share' and now my laptop can print from my desktop.
