Solved Ongoing BSOD; dxgkrnl.sys, dxgmms1.sys, and nvlddmkm.sys

They are DDR3 1600's, but I went under Speccy and looks like they max out at 668.9MHz?

Hmm that is odd and I just checked the memory specs for your board and this is what came up
Memory
4 x DIMM, Max. 32GB, DDR3 2200(O.C.)/2133(O.C.)/1866(O.C.)/1600/1333/1066 MHz Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory
Dual Channel Memory Architecture
Supports Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (XMP)
* Hyper DIMM support is subject to the physical characteristics of individual CPUs.
* Refer to Access Denied or user manual for the Memory QVL (Qualified Vendors Lists).
* Due to CPU behavior, DDR3 2200/2000/1800 MHz memory module will run at DDR3 2133/1866/1600 MHz frequency as default.

So your board actually supports up to 2200Mhz RAM - mind you that is with overclocking and I suspect the board or rather the BIOS has a default of 1333Mhz and that is why you are seeing that RAM speed in Speccy;).
To get the extra speed you need to go into the BIOS and OC the RAM. As a matter of fact my Ivy Bridge build - Asus board allows me to OC the RAM up to 2400Mhz not that I can see much of a difference quite frankly.

In my pic you will see what 1600Mhz RAM should be reading if it is running at the full speed it can (this is the laptop I am on)

But anyway you do have EUFI BIOS on that board and the settings for the memory OC would be there. I suggest you might have a look at some YouTubes on working in the BIOS. If you are not confident then it can be quite daunting to see how the new style BIOS is configured - it took me quite a while to work even some of it out. Having said all that I think the speed difference would be negligible to be honest and best left as is as OCing the RAM will not make any difference to the amount being used.

ok thank you for all your help.

I don't think I'll bother trying to over clock it. I'm moving away soon for a new job and wont be taking my desktop with me.

Thats ok and like I said overclocking is really for those gamers as I don't see any advantage in OCing my Ivy Bridge for what I use it for.

All the best with your new job I hope it is one that you have wanted and will enjoy as being happy in what you do for a living is all important.
John:)
