Only 3GB out of 4GB available to system

Hi,

I have a Acer REVO R3600 with a duel core Atom processor (N330 64-bit enabled) and with 4GB memory, but when I right-click My Computer and select properties it states that there is 4GB of memory installed but only 3GB available to the system - why is that? I am using Windows 7 64-bit Professional.

Go into your bios and check your setting, there is a setting in there that limits the amount off RAM.

With some hardware and certain IRQ settings.......yes it is. It depends on your specific configuration from my understanding. I'm not an expert on this matter, but I have read enough to understand it happens with certain configurations. This specific thread was just one of the first ones that popped up. I should not have posted it....it may not have relevance here, but I believe the OP is experiencing hardware or IRQ configurations that are effecting the RAM.

I believe you had it right. If I in the task manager choose Resource Monitor I can see a bar of my memory allocation and surely there is 1GB reserved for hardware.

As you already know there is a problem with this Acer Revo, it does not support 4GB of RAM. I recommend you to go on the website below and provide your testimonials:
