Only IE works for Internet, not Firefox, Chrome ?

Hi,

I have a laptop from my company and I have a problem accessing the internet:

- When I'm connected to my company network : everything works fine.
I go on internet through IE, Chrome, Firefox etc.

- But when I'm at home or in another company or my 3G usb stick:
Only IE works for internet. Firefox and Chrome display error page like I wasn't connected to internet.

It seems not related with browser's proxy setting. (I have tried all options and moreover, my home connection doesn't require proxy settings for example)

Thank you!

Welcome to the forums.

Even though you stated that you have "tried all options"...
I'm going to ask that you set Firefox set to use "No proxy"
Restart the computer and recheck that same Firefox setting
If it is still set to "No proxy", then try and surf
If it has changed, then check to see if your company has installed a proxy changing tool... such a tool might not be handling browsers other than IE correctly.

Hi,

Yes I just tried with no proxy + reboot. No proxy is still selected but it doesn't work.

And my company requires a proxy when I'm connected to this network but I have to disable this proxy when I'm connecting outside the company.

Hi,

74.125.227.98 doesn't work in Firefox & Chrome but ok with IE.

sreedhav : I have Win7 32 bit not 64, that was a mistake.

Thanks for doing that test. I cannot think of any reason for the problem that you are having, but if you do happen to solve it, please post the solution so we can know.

As illogical as it sounds - and maybe you have already done this: perhaps uninstalling and re-installing Chrome while at home might fix something. I know Chrome is working at your office, but I'm not sure what else to try. Hopefully you do not have too much customized within Chrome or too many bookmarks, because for the purposes of this experiment, it would be best to check the box for "also delete your browsing data" during the uninstall process.

If you do have Chrome setup with plug-ins and bookmarks, then don't bother with the uninstalling and re-installing test; it is just another straw that I'm grasping at.
