Solved Ooops - Updating reboot never flips to the User Login??

Well, I finally managed to screw the pooch

Shut down my work machine on Friday, and rebooted this morning.
It came up with the standard 'Wait while we install Updates' routine

...and sticks at 100%

I've left it for a good while, and there's only occasional flickers of the HD activity light, so it's not running a virus scan.
On a forced reboot, it only gets as far as 35% before sticking

I only have 2 System Restore points - the later one (from Friday) works (at least to the point where I can repro the above behaviour), but the earlier one fails.

Startup repair can't find any problems!??!

Anyone fancy throwing some ideas at me? - I do NOT want to have to reinstall Windows if I can help it!!

Looks like it may have fixed itself - in the end, I just left it, and 2 hours later it completed properly.

I'm about to reboot it and see what happens <cross fingers!>

I would have opted to do this via .. Command prompt .. revert pending updates

Thanks for the reminder about that - I'd completely forgotten it existed!

Anyhow - lt looks like the machine has survived to live another day. I just wish it had another few GB RAM, and an SSD!

I've been told that I'll get an upgrade soon - but that's only going to be to a 8GB with HDD , but at least it will be Win10.
