I'm running Windows 7 32-bit. On a Samsung R580. 4gb Ram, 2.13 ghZ etc etc.

Basically whenever I right-click on anything to open it's original file location "Open File Location". It does nothing.

Please help .

Does this happen with another user account? If you could, try creating another user account in Windows and login with it. If it works there, your windows profile is corrupt and you will have to copy your files and settings to the new user you create.

If it is still happening, try going to a command prompt: Start/in the search box type "cmd" and hit enter.

At the prompt type sfc /scannow and hit enter.

When done, restart and see if the problem exists.

Edit:

Alternately, this may work too.

  1. Click Start.
  2. In the search box, type regedit and press Enter.
  3. Locate the following registry key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lnkfile
  4. Now, right click on the right pane, select New String Value (REG_SZ).
  5. Name the new registry value IsShortcut
  6. No value data is required.
  7. Reboot your computer for the change to take effect.

The Registry thing did not work. However I am in the process of the command scan. Hope for the best!
