Open programs hide behind task bar only last few days/week

Win 7 Ultra 64 since when first came out and only recently and seems randomly open programs icons "hide" behind taskbar and only on primary monitor (have 4 - 24" ).

I have read old reports of taskbar blocking desktop etc but not exactly the same. (some back a few years) and tried killing explorer.exe and restarting, tried all the various combinations of options for the taskbar, moved it from bottom to top to side Pinned items are fine. The running programs do not overlap (to right of pinned) and the taskbar is somewhat transparent so I can faintly see them blurry behind the taskbar bar. But they will not respond (have to use task manager to switch to them). Using landscape mode on primary so lots of room.

Rebooting clears up but then comes back but can not identify what could cause it.

No recent updates (maybe one for Windows) that I know of.

Not sure if related to windows or could be multi-monitor program also use but no changes in that for years either - so wondering if others have experienced and if could be windows related with a solution

Thanks

Hi davephx and welcome to the Forum.
Try doing a system restore to a point before this problem occured. If you have an Anti Virus software like Norton you may have to go into Safe Mode for the system restore to work.
This tutorial will help if you need it:

Yah, I have restore points to try - although now for last about 24 hours problem not yet come back!

Have MSE anti-virus always running and Malewarebytes. Also ran two others so don't think virus related.
