Solved Open with problems

About a month ago i was bored/ procrastinating and was using the open with function and opened a random program as note pad, what i diddnt notice at the time is that i left a check box at the bottom saying "always open the seleted program to open this kind of file", when I clicked ok

it set every file to now opens as note pad, evey time i then icon for evey program has been replaced by the note pad icon. when i open somthing it now only opens note pad showing me a bunch of crazy random symbols

can anyone please tell me how to fix this

ok ive downloaded and instaled it and i have a list file extension types but i dont know which ones i am meant to remove the the association from, do I have to do it for all of them or do i have to select somthing specific?

Hi, welcome to the forums

You will want to restore your File Type Associations, mainly .EXE and .LNK. Just download the registry keys from the tutorial and run them.

Hello. I Share the same problem with motster and i tried Orbital Shark's solution but it doesn't work. What should I do? And also, regarding Bill2's answer, I don't know what files are to delete. Thank youuu. Please help me
