I have a 80MB HTML report and I don't know how to open it.

I tried Firefox and IE but they both can't handle the whole file.
On IE it says "Done" but it stops working just when I want to scroll(or click on the window).

Firefox I could scroll for about 2 seconds before it stopped responding and I had to kill it.

*Okay all of a sudden IE successfully finished loading the HTML file and I can now scroll around the file but it is so slow and unusable.
I am now trying to search in it and it is stuck again. I mean it will probably work, but it is too much to wait.
*Again, it took about 1-2 mins to finish searching and output marked results through all the file.

Are there any solutions for this problem?
Is this normal?
Do I need a super computer?

Still not working.

I think it is not a problem in my laptop, it is simply too big. I would like you to try to open HTML file(50MB+).
Please.

I have no HTML file that big. I saved this page to try and it was only 144KB. 80MB is an unusually large HTML file. I have a Pictures folder of 772MB which opens nearly instantly. I ran some searches in it and was the same speed.
Do you have Indexing turned on? Right click on the HTML file/Properties and see if it is check to allow indexing. If not check it. To verify it is running, go to Task Manager/Processes and look for SearchIndexer.exe. If not, index is not running. Let us know.

Your RAM at 2GB may be holding you back somewhat too, consider upgrading to 4GB or more if possible. 2GB is the minimum for 64bit.

Hello!

I have no HTML files that big (but I do manipulate 60MB XML files and 55MB text files in my webbrowser, notepad, and wordpad) and anyway, I don't need experience to say what I am going to.

It will take quite a long time to open such a big folder. Firefox and most programs will Stop Responding (go white) but they will not Stop Working. Leave Firefox white. If you get an option to Close Program, or continue waiting, continue waiting.

It will take a minute or so, but then Firefox will recover, and you will be able continue work.

Searching will also take a long time. There is nothing you can do but be patient. You cannot solve the harddisk bottleneck. Or you could get an SSD. But don't expect miracles. An SSD should considerably improve things (as long as you are retrieving locally as opposed to over a network from a server) but you still have to be patient, and allow any program to recover.

Richard

You are at the absolute minimum RAM for 64 bit win 7 and when you open a big file other things get pushed to your much slower page file.

Two options. Increase ram or use smaller files. I cant think of why a single page would be 80 Mb.
