Download and install MagicISO or PowerISO. After restarting, right click on ISO file and mount it as a virtual drive. Then click on it in Computer to run ISO or explore files.

WinRar will also do it.

There is a built-in handler for ISO files in Windows 7. Open Windows Explorer and right-click on the file name. An option will appear to "Burn disk image". Very simple, and does a nice job- Just follow the instructions that appear.

This Computer building crap started out years ago as a simple hobby..that has now gotten completely out of hand !!
(It does come in handy though, when everyone in the family wants their own computer)
Download Daemon tools lite: Downloads :: DAEMON-Tools.cc

i'd also recommend daemon-tools.
there used to be a 3rd party add-on which integrates in the explorer (right-click menu) to mount/unmount images. dunno if it's still available for win7 though.

This is now built into Daemon-Tools (it is a selectable installation option) - and works very well with Windows 7.

I always thought that was for burning ISO image to CD, not for opening the IOS image as though it were a CD. What do you think?

Correct, you cannot open .ISO files without a 3rd party app in Windows 7.

Correct, you cannot open .ISO files without a 3rd party app in Windows 7.

There must be a simple command built into Windows 7 that can be easily accessed? All of these 3rd party apps are not re-inventing the wheel.

It is very easy to mount .vhd drives.

I should really try this, not judge by Vista/XP's crappy burner. Thanks.

It has the similar interface to Scan utility which I also briefly sneered at, making a note to install HP's scanning utility. Well, 50 scans later and it is proven now to be much better than the HP one, just not as pretty.

Win7 is better everything.

This is off-topic, but the one time I tried to burn an ISO to CD in Vista I ended up with a file on the CD having the extention .ISO.
