Hi all
Since changing to win7 pro, I am finding small prob's that are irritating, like when I want to close a web page down I go to the Blue circled arrow at the top left to go back to the previous page and it doesn't work, and a box comes with "Close All Tabs, or Close This Tab" is there a way to get rid of this box and go back to the arrow?

And when I used XP I could leave a web page open, and start a new search by opening another home page tab and swap between them, in fact I could open several tabs and they all appeared on my task bar under the screen.
In win7 I open my home page, and if I need another homepage search I click on my ISP icon (TalkTalk) and another tab opens, but I have not found another way to open several tabs at the same time, and when I click on the X to close the second tab, it closes both of the open tabs and I loose the original search page.
What am I doing wrong? regards Robert.

It sounds as if you may have uninstalled updates your describing explorer from a couple of versions ago.

you should have a tiny tablet thing to the side for opening new tabs as illustrated in the screen attached.

Hi Manguscreed
Many thanks for your prompt reply. I have seen the button with the New Tab(Ctrl+T) but each time I click it I don't get my homepage search, I just get a new page with ten blank squares and a caption saying "Your most popular sites"
It is the same page recurring each time that I click on the button.
Regards Robert.

You can make a new tab open to your home page instead using this tutorial,

Many thanks Derekimo, that info did the trick, job sorted. :D
Just the prob of using the arrows to go back a page if it's possible, instead of clicking in the"close this tab" box.
Regards Robert.

You're welcome Robert. :)

The back button should work if you've gone forward first, it won't send you back to the previous tab though.

Or am I not understanding what you would like to do?

Hi Derekimo
Sorry D I am getting mixed up and it seems that I might be confusing you as well as myself, it's just that I am making two clicks with win7, once on the X and again on the box that appears and says (close current page) whereas with XP I just clicked the X and I closed the page, although I have just noticed that it might not be a Win7 problem, as the box has "Internet Explorer" accross the top, so it might be something in the IE setup.
Regards Robert.

OK, I think I know what you're saying now.

It sounds like you are closing the tabs from the top right "X" which will give a message asking if you want to close all tabs or just the current one.

If you just want to close a single tab you use the "X" on the tab itself.

If you want to disable that message box, you can check the "Always close all tabs"

box the next time it comes up or go to Tools>>>Internet options>>>General

tab>>>Tabs, Settings>>>Uncheck the warn me when closing multiple tabs box.
