Opinion On 2 Different Routers

May I get some opinions from some users or somebody with some knowledge on the performance issues between a D-Link DIR-655 and a Linksys WRT610. I have the Dlink right now, and need/want to increase my signal travel. I had to move my router to another room and it doesn't pick up as well in some areas now. I was wondering if the Linksys would pick up any better or would it be worse. I had a Linksys years ago and it was pretty good, but I am sure the newer one's should be better but do not want to waste the time in setting it up if it's not really that much better in that regard.

BTW, I have the Dlink antenna that has the wires for the antenna that are about 3 ft long. It helps a little, but not that much.

I have used the Linksys on many installations and it seems powerful enough. On a large house I usually defer to a WRT54G because the Linksys Wireless G Range Xpander works with it but not with newer models.

Thanks for the thought. So I couldn't add a range extender onto that Linksys model?

I have not moved to the newer 802.11n routers or NICs yet, but yes one of their strongpoints is they are suppossed to have much better range and signal.

I'm still using older Linksys WRT54G series running DDWRT, which lets me do things like increase the TX signal and many many other things that the "stock" firmware didnt allow! DDWRT gave my $80 routers features found on enterprise level routers! I love it!

So if you were to buy one of the Enterprise typerouters you can do that kind of stuff? I see a bunch of those at Fry's. I was wondering what's up with them.

I think I am going to see what www.evdoforums.com has for sale as in antennas. They have all that stuff.
